Choose a spot close to Downtown and you'll find plenty of late-night snacks near your UGA apartment.

As a self-proclaimed night owl and avid lover of food, more than anyone, I understand the occasional need for a late-night snack. Regardless, as a college student it's likely that you may find yourself in a situation where you have to stay up late to study or finish an essay and making sure you're fueled up is important! Fortunately, Athens has no shortage of restaurants or access to food, and I've found some of the best places to get a late-night snack in Athens' most prominent areas–Downtown, Five Points, and Normaltown.

Downtown Athens

D.P. Dough (11AM-4AM)

Mostly known for their calzones with diverse filling options, D.P. Dough is an Italian cuisine restaurant and a great option to satisfy your late-night cravings. In addition to calzones, they also offer chicken wings and their very own D.P. tots and Stix. They have delivery and pickup options as well which is convenient when you need something quick.

JINYA Ramen Bar (11AM-10PM/11PM)

JINYA is an authentic Japanese restaurant that specializes in noodle soups, dumplings, and craft beers. They also have delivery options through Doordash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub.Waffle House (24 Hours)Waffle House is a Southern classic and–as everyone knows–is open 24 hours. It's only a short walking distance from the Georgia Theatre and you can enjoy some late-night waffles or something from their dinner menu!

Insomnia Cookies (11AM/12PM - 1AM/3AM)

Craving a late-night dessert? Insomnia Cookies specializes in providing late night services and even offers deliveries for their warm cookies. In addition, they also have some delicious ice cream options on their menu.

Five Points

Cali n Tito's (11AM-11PM)

Cali n Tito's on Lumpkin Street is considered a local treasure by many Athens residents and rightfully so. It is a Latin American based restaurant that serves a variety of delicious Cuban and Peruvian cuisine. They only accept payment in cash though so be aware of that!

The Local 706 (11:30AM-11PM)

The Local 706 is a restaurant and bar that serves lunch and dinner options. They're known as a casual restaurant where you can enjoy eating food with friends and potentially watching the game. Eating at this restaurant could be a great reprieve from a stressful night of studying due to its relaxing atmosphere.

Normaltown

Agua Linda Taqueria (11AM-10PM/12AM)

Agua Linda is a locally owned restaurant that began as a taqueria and then developed into a full restaurant. Their menu is Mexican infused with Tex-Mex, giving you an opportunity to try some authentic cultural cuisine.

Hi-Lo Lounge (11AM-10PM/12AM)

Hi-Lo Lounge is a restaurant and bar located on Prince Avenue. Amongst their lunch and dinner menu are globally inspired sandwiches and vegan bites. And for those who are the legal drinking age, they also serve local craft beer and inventive cocktails at the bar.

In addition, there are also several fast-food restaurants that stay open late all along Prince Avenue–the main road of Normaltown. Options include Firehouse Subs, Subway, Krystal, and McDonald's!
