    Lamar Dodd School of Art

Apartments near Lamar Dodd School of Art

If you are an art student at UGA or just an art admirer, you may want to consider looking for UGA apartments near Lamar Dodd School of Art. The UGA Lamar Dodd School of Art is in East Campus, right next to the Joe Frank Dining Commons, and only a five-minute drive to Sanford Stadium. The art school is quite large, taking up almost an entire block in East Campus. The school is named after famous artist Lamar Dodd who grew up in LaGrange, Georgia. Dodd was part of the UGA faculty in 1937, and the art school was named after him right before his death in 1996. In 2008, the art school moved to a new building on East Campus, where it has been since. The new building is exquisite, with amazing architecture and outdoor spaces. Parking is also a lot easier, for there are several decks and parking lots only a five-minute walk to Lamar Dodd.

UGA Buildings close to Lamar Dodd

Lamar Dodd is also next to the Georgia Museum of Art, which has beautiful collections and several forms of art to admire. With several levels and rooms, you could spend a few hours admiring the work. Sometimes professors will base part of their units on collections in the Museum and give extra credit points to students who go to visit it. Another important building close by is Joe Frank Dining Commons, which also has a cafe area on the 1st floor, so people without meal plans can still buy food. Their offerings include Jittery Joes, sushi, sandwiches, and more! This makes it super easy to eat lunch if you aren't a fan of packing lunch or dinner even if you are in apartments near the UGA art school. Lamar Dodd is also very close to Ramsey, the student fitness center that every student has access to. While it might not be on the central campus, Lamar Dodd has everything a student could need close by.

Apartments near Lamar Dodd School of Art

Since Lamar Dodd is in East Campus, Barnett Shoals is only a ten-minute drive away, which is another popular spot for students to live. Barnett Shoals offers several different apartment communities, most being three-story, spread-out apartment complexes, different from the high rises you might find in downtown Athens. However, if you are in East Campus a lot, it is a great location to be in. It also has the grocery stores, restaurants, and shops a college student would want. These include Athens favorites like Cali n Tito's, Barberitos, and Jittery Joes. However, if you are looking for other areas to live in, downtown Athens is only a short drive to Lamar Dodd.
