Apartments near the SR 10 Loop | Athens, GA

SR 10 Loop

If you are looking for UGA apartments near the SR 10 Loop, it's a good idea to understand the location and its benefits first. The state route 10 Loop is a highway that forms a ring around Athens. In 2000, the Georgia Department of Transportation officially named the "loop" SR 422, but most people call the highway "Inner" or "Outer" Loop, depending on if they are driving towards the North or South. The SR 10 Loop can take you pretty much anywhere you need to go in Athens. It has exits to all the main roads and can make your commute to class much faster if you plan on living farther away from campus.

Important Exits on the SR 10 Loop

Living near the SR 10 Loop probably means you are living near a larger road already. The Loop exits are usually on a road with lots of food options, so if you live near an exit, you won't have to drive 15 minutes for dinner. Even with your exit, living near the Loop still gives you access to a lot more. The Atlanta Monroe exit will take you to Epps Bridge Parkway, one of the more popular roads. Epps Bridge has grocery and hardware stores, as well as restaurants and UGA students' favorite, Jittery Joe's! The College Station Exit will take you to UGA's East Campus, but also the Park and Ride parking lot for commuters. This is important because it is very hard to get a good parking spot as a commuter, so living near a direct road to Park and Ride is super helpful! The Atlanta Highway exit is just that, Atlanta Highway. This exit has lots of restaurant options but also clothing stores and grocery stores. Milledge Avenue's exit is also an important road, for it has a majority of UGA's sorority and fraternity houses on it. Lots of apartment communities are near Milledge because of the Greek houses.

Why should you find an apartment near the Athens SR 10 Loop?

Athens is not a large city, yet UGA has lots of students! Athens traffic can get heavy during the day, so if you want to get somewhere fast, the Loop is a good choice. Before late morning and afternoon classes start, you will see an uptick in traffic. That's why you want to be able to stay off the main roads and downtown. Finding an apartment near the loop will give you many options in your groceries, meals, and where you shop! Living near the loop also has apartments under 700 which helps not break the bank! Living near the Loop also gives you more choices in floor plans, with two bedroom housing, all the way to five! Depending on what exit on the Loop you want to live near, prices will vary. Make sure to take your time when apartment hunting, because there are a ton of options!
