UGA Athletic Complexes
The University of Georgia is known as having one of the best athletic programs in the country. We took home the National Championship in College football in 2021 and our team remains strong to this day. In 2014, the University of Georgia spent 3 million renovating Woodruff Field adding new turf, new filming towers and landscaping. Football is not the only sport that UGA is proud of and trying to improve, Foley Field has received its fair share of improvements since the stadium was constructed in 1990. UGA baseball games are exciting and their tickets are often cheap. Definitely get some friends together and go check out a game sometime.
UGA Athletic Facilities
Baseball, football, basketball are well known sports that many Dawgs love, however our UGA Gymnastics program is one of the best in the country. The UGA Gymnastics Center or better known as Stegeman Coliseum is where the UGA gymnastics team have won over ten NCAA titles from 1987 to 2009. The Coliseum originally opened in 1964, and the largest crowd in history was drawn here for the Georgia Tech arch rival match with the Dawgs pulling out the win 81-68. An interesting fact about Stegeman Coliseum, was that it was used in the Centennial Olympic Games in 1996 for the rhythmic gymnastics and preliminary volleyball competition. If you are into volleyball and gymnastics maybe consider looking for UGA apartments near athletic complexes. Another less watched team at UGA is track and field. Georgia track and field men hold the number 2 spot for the latest US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the third straight time. The Lady Bulldogs managed to bump up to number 2 in the polls which shows the progress of the program. Spec Towns Track is the facility the track and field team uses at UGA. The track has been around since 1964 and can accommodate up to 1000 spectators. The Spec Towns Invitational is in early April, which recognizes the track's history and contributions to the school, so if you are into track stop by and check it out. If you want to make use of the facility make sure to look for apartments near athletic complexes like Spec Towns Trac, so you can use it whenever you want.
Alternatives to UGA Athletics
If you are more into working out rather than sports, do not worry because UGA has a state of the art facility for weight lifting and training at Ramsey Student Center. There are 2 rooms with free weights and machines and 2 olympic size pools that the UGA swim team uses for competitions and practice. There is also a pool for diving which will be more open to students not on the team. Apartments near Ramsey student center are a great decision if you think you will be using the facility a lot.
