What are the best Athens brunch spots?

Athens has no shortage of amazing restaurants, and therefore, has so many great breakfast and brunch places. There are plenty of well-known restaurants that will be full by 10 am, but also lesser-known places that can get you in and out quickly. If you have parents up for the weekend, or just want to go out to eat with your friends, there are a lot of great breakfast spots near your Athens apartment!

Mama's Boy (Oak Street & Macon Hwy)

Mama's Boy is the classic Athens brunch spot after being in the classic city for 16 years. They have become so popular that they have two locations in Athens, one downtown and one in the falls of Oconee. Mama's Boy serves up a lot of classic southern breakfast and lunch dishes, with a casual diner atmosphere. Going anytime after 9 am on a weekend will most likely include a wait, so be warned!

The Farm Cart (Baxter Street)

The Farm Cart is located only a few minutes from UGA and serves up delicious biscuit sandwiches and has a full coffee bar. Its porch area is the perfect place to grab a meal on a sunny Sunday. The Farm Cart started at the Athens Farmer Market and eventually opened their first store, yet they still are at the farmers market every Saturday. Whether you like your biscuit with fresh jam and butter or loaded with bacon, eggs, and cheese, you are sure to find something you would like here!

The Cafe on Lumpkin (Lumpkin Street)

The Café on Lumpkin is incredibly popular with UGA students, with it being only a five-minute drive from campus. It's housed in an adorable old house on Lumpkin, with a great patio in front for beautiful Athens days. The Café has a variety of food options, like breakfast burritos and bagels, but also has a decadent afternoon tea that is so much fun!

Heirloom Café and Fresh Market (N Chase Street)

Heirloom Café offers brunch Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. They have a large brunch menu with both lunch and breakfast options, in case your group has differing opinions. Heirloom sources as much of their food as they can from local farmers and are tied to community producers.

Waffle House

Now we can't mention breakfast spots without mentioning the classic and college student favorite, Waffle House. While not the most sophisticated, there are so many locations in Athens you are bound to have one near you. Perfect for late-night gatherings or early mornings, you can't go wrong with Waffle House.
